Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Aletis (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 16 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. The service

Aletis is an AI-powered research platform that provides users with access to Claude Code, an AI research agent developed by Anthropic, to conduct web research and generate markdown reports. The Service is intended for professional research use.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes where possible. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

3. Account registration and security

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from your failure to keep your account secure.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information, violate these Terms, or engage in activity that threatens the security or integrity of the Service.

4. Plans and billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically at the end of each billing period. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

We will give at least 30 days' notice before any price increase takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance.

5. Cancellation and refund policy

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain access to the Service until then.

All fees are non-refundable, including for partial use of a billing period, unless required by applicable law. We do not offer prorated refunds on cancellation.

Following cancellation or account deletion, your research data will be retained for 30 days to allow you to retrieve any files, after which it will be permanently deleted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
• Infringe the intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
• Generate content intended to deceive, defame, harass, or harm any person.
• Attempt to circumvent, reverse-engineer, or bypass the AI system's safety guardrails or prompt protections.
• Represent AI-generated research as your own original human work without disclosure (for example, in academic submissions or professional reports where such disclosure is required).
• Use AI-generated content to facilitate securities fraud, market manipulation, or any other financial crime.
• Input personal data of third parties into research sessions without a lawful basis for doing so under applicable data protection law.
• Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service by automated means beyond normal use.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide access to the Service to third parties without our written consent.
• Use output from the Service to train, fine-tune, or build competing AI models.

We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of this section, with or without notice depending on severity, and without refund.

7. Intellectual property

Aletis IP: We own all rights in the Aletis platform, software, user interface, branding, and proprietary technology. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service during your subscription term, solely for your own professional purposes.

Your inputs: You retain full ownership of all research criteria, prompts, and other content you provide to the Service. You grant us a limited licence to process your inputs solely to deliver the Service to you.

AI-generated output: Research reports and other content generated by the AI during your sessions are provided for your professional use. You receive a broad licence to use, copy, modify, distribute, and build upon such output. Aletis does not claim copyright ownership of AI-generated content. You should be aware that the copyright status of AI-generated content is unsettled in most jurisdictions and that AI output may occasionally reproduce material from third-party sources.

No model training: We do not use your inputs or research sessions to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model.

Feedback: If you submit feedback, bug reports, or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you.

8. AI-generated content

AI-generated research reports are provided for informational purposes only. They may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or content that does not reflect current facts. AI systems can generate plausible-sounding but incorrect information (“hallucinations”).

Nothing in the Service constitutes professional legal, financial, medical, tax, investment, or other regulated advice. You should not rely on AI-generated content as a substitute for professional judgment. You are responsible for independently verifying any information before acting on it.

We do not review, validate, or endorse the accuracy of AI-generated research before it is delivered to you.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. In such jurisdictions, the above exclusions apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALETIS'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE FEES PAID BY YOU IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

IN NO EVENT SHALL ALETIS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

We are not liable for decisions you make or actions you take based on AI-generated research content.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Aletis and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any applicable law or third-party right; or (d) content you input into the Service.

12. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

13. Modifications to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email at least 30 days before material changes take effect. The date of the most recent revision is shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and, upon formal incorporation, the laws of the country in which Aletis is registered (to be updated). Any dispute shall first be subject to good-faith negotiations; if unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction in which Aletis is incorporated.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you may also refer disputes to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.

15. General provisions

Entire agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Aletis regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

No waiver: Failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it in the future.
